Markboard Personal Subscription
💻 Markboard is the virtual whiteboard replacement built for geeks by a geek for designing and brainstorming with real-time collaboration when you're away from the office.
Other virtual whiteboards give you clumsy drawing UI's, forcing you to find and fumble around with your mouse or touchpad. Markboard is different. It's built for geeks. (By a geek!)
Keep your hands on the keyboard and collaborate in real-time with markdown, syntax-highlighting code snippets, and mermaid-powered diagrams!
Get Started for Free.
It's always free to play around and create a personal board at https://www.markboard.dev.
Personal boards generate sharable static links. Your peers can view the board and edit their own private copy. But, changes are not shared, saved, or synchronized in any way.
Real-time collaboration is just $24/year.
This comes with 600 minutes of live board time per month. (Business/Pro licenses offer unlimited time.) When you subscribe we'll send a license key. Add it to your Markboard account to create live boards. Anyone you share a live board link with can edit in real-time with you.
And all new subscribers get their first week FREE.
That makes it's risk free to get started. Cancel after a few days if you don't think you'll use it.
Markboard's Goals
Ultimately, I want a tool that lets me develop ideas rapidly with the visual artifacts I'd normally get at a whiteboard. For me, that means:
-
Text-Based / Keyboard-Centric Input.
My own biggest gripe with other virtual whiteboards is the assumption that I want to draw my ideas with my touchpad or mouse. But, I don't! I'm awful at it! Markboard will always be text-based and keyboard centric. -
Simple Design.
I don't like to lose screen real estate to unnecessary icons and noise. My primary goal is to make it easy to edit, view, and share your board. -
Github-Compatible Markdown.
Markboard is a geek's solution for rapid brainstorming and easy collaboration. But, when you're ready for slower, version controlled iteration or long-term storage, I want you to be able to copy/paste the fruits of your labor right into your repo in a format that just works. -
Solid Real-Time Collaboration.
Numerous collaboration algorithms were tried, tested, and ruled out before I found the one that produced highly accurate conflict management while leaving the door open to future P2P enhancements. -
Continued Improvement.
I have things I want Markboard to do better, and I'm open to ideas! So, as long as I have funding, I'll be making Markboard better.
Here are some ideas already on my list:- Auto-suggested templates for diagrams
- MathJax support
- History snapshotting for faster initial load/reload times on boards with looong edit histories.
- WebRTC for even faster collaboration
- Password-protected / Client-Side Encrypted boards for
SENSITIVE
designs - A peer-to-peer only option for
TOP SECRET
boards 🕵️
So, is Markboard for you?
I don't know! Are you like me?
I want to:
- See things to grok them.
- Design and work with my hands on the keyboard. ⌨️
- Use a familiar, portable format.
If you're not like me, thanks for reading all the way to this point, but Markboard is probably not for you. I won't stop you from buying a license, and you can still create personal boards for free! But, I won't change it for you. And I won't ask you to change for it. It's just not intended for you.
If you are like me, Congratulations! 🎉 Markboard was literally made for you.
Enjoy!
